Leftover Turkey Casserole

The Thanksgiving leftovers are slowly being eaten up, but as it usually goes, everyone is getting tired of the same meal each night. I found this recipe for leftover turkey casserole at Allrecipes. It spruces up your leftover cranberry sauce and potatoes by adding in a few additional ingredients, like mayo and cheese. It came together in less than 10 minutes and was a satisfying meal. Enjoy!

Green Bean Casserole Grilled Cheese

For all the folks out there who love green bean casserole, this sandwich is for you. Take your favorite recipe for green bean casserole and transform it into a delicious, cheesy sandwich. The casserole that I made this year had a few tweaks, using cheesy french fried onions on the topping and sauteed mushrooms added in. That recipe will be coming soon.

Many thanks to Family Fresh Meals for this recipe. I love trying out unusual recipes from time to time, and this one tasted great.

Cranberry Raspberry Sauce

There were quite a few cranberry sauce recipes I was considering trying this Thanksgiving, but this raspberry variation at Favorite Family Recipes won me over. I made a small change of reducing the almond extract by half. I found that it was a touch too strong as it was, so the recipe below shows that adjustment. If you aren't an almond fan, you can substitute vanilla instead.

Cranberry Jello Dessert

Happy Thanksgiving! Today I have a bit of a retro dessert, a cranberry jello filled with pineapple and topped with a sweetened cream cheese topping. Many thanks to Spice Gals for this recipe. We loved it and it set up beautifully.

Artisan No-Knead Pizza Bread

We started with the original, a plain, but oh so delicious Artisan Bread. Then we tried a sweet Chocolate and Orange Artisan Bread variation. This time around I tried out a pizza bread with my kids in mind. They loved it, I loved it. It is hard to go wrong with this bread recipe. Enjoy!

Cheddar & Chive Pumpkin Cheese Ball

Thanksgiving is almost here! I have the most adorable cheese ball to share. It is pumpkin shaped, but there is no actual pumpkin in it. It is a delicious mixture of cream cheese, chives and cheese. What makes this appetizer over the top is the garnish of pie crust leaves, pretzel rod stem, and cheddar cheese ribs to define the pumpkin. Guests at your Thanksgiving gathering will be in awe of this beautiful cheese ball.

It may seem like a lot of work, but really it isn't that bad. If you are busy on turkey day, as most of us are, make the cheese ball the day before, along with the pie crust leaves. If you have kids in the house, let them help out painting the leaves. It is a fun family activity and the leaves look great even if they are a bit messy.

Cheesy Sausage Penne

Long time readers may have noticed how much I love the recipes from Cassie Craves. I have made a bunch of them over the past year. The Best Ever Broccoli Salad, Cowboy Burgers with A1 Onions, Pretty Damn Amazing Biscuits and Gravy, Ranch Mac and Cheese, and Sweet Grape Salad. I'm adding a new one today with this Cheesy Sausage Penne. Many thanks, again, to Cassie for the awesome recipe.

My only change would be if I made this again to cut the cream cheese amount down by a third. It was just a tad too rich for my tastes.

Chocolate and Orange Artisan No-Knead Bread

Nutella Crescent Pinwheels

These tasty little treats only require two ingredients. As I experienced, they are also a great way to use leftover crescent dough. I had used a partial can of dough for another recipe and was wondering what to do, besides just making crescent rolls of course. You can make them into basic turnovers, roll them up in a spiral like a normal crescent roll, or make them pinwheel style as I did. Enjoy!

Autumn Indoor Fairy Garden

A few weeks back my daughter updated her indoor fairy garden to have a fall theme. This was actually before she had a Halloween theme, but I hadn't gotten around to posting the pictures till now.

If you haven't seen this before, basically an oversized somewhat shallow basket is used for a container, which is filled with a large piece of styrofoam cut to fit. We hot glued a large piece of moss onto the styrofoam and let it set up and dry, then added the decor. There are no fairies in this old picture because after a Summer of playing, the original fairies all broke and we have replaced them.

The fairy garden was just changed out again to have a Christmas theme. What can I say, we are excited for Christmas!

Jalapeno Chicken Crescent Pinwheels

My notes:
-Next time around I would add shredded cheddar or pepper jack cheese for more flavor, probably 1/3 cup.
-These are best eaten the same day, as refrigerating them tends to make the crescent dough soft.

I am kicking myself for not trying the famous 'no knead' bread that has been talked about the last few years. I tried it out and I am here to tell you guys that this recipe is fantastic. It comes together so quickly that it is hard to believe such great results can be made, but believe it!

Brown Butter Salted Caramel Mocha Cookies

Hooray for the weekend! Today I am bringing a cookie recipe, courtesy of the famous and incredible blog, Kevin & Amanda. It incorporates flavors of chocolate, sea salt, caramel and coffee, which all happen to be flavors I love.

Many thanks to Kevin & Amanda for this recipe. It is a new favorite at our house, especially by my four year old who claims to love coffee and all spicy foods. I think he is going to be quite an adventurous eater when he grows up. Enjoy!

Boursin Chicken Crescents

A few notes about this recipe. I winged it as I went, adding in vegetables that I had on hand. If you do this as well, I would recommend sauteing them first. I find that anything made with crescent dough from a can is best eaten right away. If it sits in the fridge for several days it can get a bit soggy, so plan on eating this fresh.

When I made this, I overfilled my crescents so I ended up with six instead of eight. You might want to have all your crescent rectangles laid out on the counter and add a portion of the filling before you start closing them up to make sure you have enough filling to go around. Or you can do what I do, which is make nutella crescents with the leftover dough.
